Why is this exciting for your career as the Head of Testing & Quality Assurance?

The MBE Programme presents a huge opportunity for colleagues across the technology function to play a central role in the design, shape, delivery and execution of an enterprise-wide digital transformation programme. The complexity of the initiative, within a FTSE 250 business, will allow for large-scale problem solving, group wide impact assessment and supporting the delivery of an enablement project to future proof the business.

As the Head of Testing & Quality Assurance, you will be responsible for establishing and leading the end-to-end Testing and Quality Assurance (QA) function within Greencore. The role will focus on building a robust QA framework and processes, ensuring quality is embedded at every stage of the IT delivery lifecycle. Central to the role is the creation of scalable testing capabilities that leverage both in-house talent and augmented supplier resources, delivering high-quality outcomes aligned to the organisation's transformation and operational goals.

You will champion testing best practices, implement effective methodologies, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. This includes managing resources, integrating suppliers for capability augmentation, and ensuring testing aligns with broader business objectives. 

What you’ll be doing:

• Establish and embed a testing and QA framework - Develop and implement testing methodologies, standards, and processes to ensure delivery meets quality expectations
• Build and manage a high-performing testing team - Recruit, develop, and lead a team of in-house and supplier-augmented Test & QA professionals to drive testing excellence
• Integrate and manage augmented supplier resources - Source and onboard external Test & QA providers to supplement internal capabilities and improve scalability
• Drive quality assurance across the software delivery lifecycle - Partner with IT Delivery and Change teams to ensure testing is integrated from initial scoping through to release and support
• Lead and optimise automated testing strategies - Implement automation tools and frameworks to enhance test efficiency and repeatability, reducing time to production
• Monitor, analyse, and improve QA effectiveness - Use KPIs to measure the performance of testing processes and implement continuous improvement initiatives
• Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders - Act as the primary advocate for testing within the organisation, ensuring clear communication and alignment with stakeholders

What you'll need:

• Proven experience in building and leading a Test & QA function, ideally in large-scale or complex environments

• Strong expertise in software testing methodologies (manual, automated, performance, security)

• Experience integrating augmented supplier resources and managing external partnerships

• Familiarity with automation tools and frameworks such as Selenium, Appium, or similar

• Skilled in influencing and aligning senior stakeholders on quality-focused and value driven initiatives

• Experience within industries requiring stringent testing (e.g. finance, manufacturing, logistics) is advantageous

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

• Certifications in testing frameworks or methodologies (e.g. ISTQB, Agile Testing) is desirable
