Job description
Here in Consett, we have a team of around 280 colleagues. We produce a range of chilled ready meals for some of the UK's leading retailers, including Co-op, Sainsbury's and Weight Watchers.
Night shift - Monday to Friday 11pm-7am £13.75 per hour
What you'll be doing
In this role as a Cooking Operator, you will work in our cooking area. Working in a small team ensuring that cooking sauces are made in accordance with quality standards and customer specifications.
Tasks will involve:
- Checking and completing relevant traceability paperwork
- Cooking all required products as specified with the daily planned recipe sheets, following recipe instructions
- Operating kettles completing relevant start up sheets before beginning cooking, ensuring all safety and compliance procedures are maintained accurately
- Monitoring the cooking process and temperature throughout on multiple kettles at once, checking that the consistency and volume of meals are in accordance to the daily scheduled plan
- Completing relevant paperwork throughout the shift in a timely manner, ensuring that each meal is correctly booked into System 21, accurately inputting the quantity of sauces after the discharging process, ensuring the kettle is rinsed thoroughly and integrity checks have been completed before starting the next scheduled product
- Communicate with assembly senior operators regularly to prevent any unnecessary lost time, providing assembly with the correct components such as rice, pasta and turmeric water when needed, communicating with the debox corridor to retrieve required components
- Use of lifting equipment to load kettles with ingredients
- Moving large quantities of ingredients (Manual lifting will be required)
What we're looking for
Full training will be provided if successful in this role but are looking for the following knowledge and experience:
- Experience working within a food manufacturer preferred
- Previous experience with ERP systems (System21) is preferred but not essential
- Good Literacy and Numeracy skills
- Problem solving skills
- Good communicator and ability to work in a team
- Allergen awareness
- L2 Food Safety is preferred but not essential
